Tata Metaliks reported pig iron sales at 85,684 mt in Q2 FY2021, up by 12pc from the prior year quarter, and up by 167pc compared to the previous quarter.
The company posted DI pipes sales at 48,908 mt in the second quarter, down by 13pc from Q2 the prior year, and up by 80pc from the previous quarter.
Tata Metaliks recorded healthy performance largely in pig iron business on quarterly basis as foundries ramped production upto 80-90pc. The company is expecting demand to be remain healthy in the upcoming quarter. However, DI pipe demand may remain under pressure till government spending picks up in infrastructure projects such as water, sanitation and irrigation in the next few months.
The company’s Q2 EBITDA was Rs111.66 crore, up by 139pc from the prior year quarter and significantly up by 893pc compared Q1.
Tata Metaliks is a subsidiary of Tata Steel and has manufacturing facilities at Kharagpur, West Bengal in India. The plant produces 5,50,000 mt of hot metal, of which 200,000 mt is converted into DI pipes and the rest into pig iron.
