Tata Metaliks has re-started production of pig iron and DI pipes at its Kharagpur plant in West Bengal. It has begun activities in a phased manner with a developed Standard Operating Procedure complying with the strict guidelines and advisory issued by the government.
The company had suspended production of both pig iron and DI plant since March 28, as reported by Davis Index.
Standard hot metal production from the blast furnaces feeding into Di pipes plant is likely to begin in a few days. The company plans to boost production levels to 40-50pc capacity. Further ramp-up process will begin when government restrictions placed on workforce strength is lifted and demand returns to the market.
