Tata Motors sold 52,132 vehicles in October, up by 26pc from the prior year, according to the company’s monthly sales update.


In India, total sales clocked a 27pc growth at 49,669 units from the previous year. Domestic sales rose by 12pc from the previous month. 


Segment-wise, domestic passenger vehicles sales rose by 79pc to 23,617 units from the prior October and up by 22pc from the prior month. Passenger carries’ sales fell by 56pc, the steepest fall amongst the segments as 755 units were sold in October compared to 2019. 


Medium and heavy vehicle sales rose 3pc to 5,033 units and light commercial vehicle sales rose 12pc to 4,286 units in October on the prior year. Total commercial vehicle (CV) sales is up 2pc from the prior year at 28,472 units sold and 14pc up from the prior month. Exports of CVs rose by 20pc to 2,420 units. 


In October, most auto manufacturers posted decent sales growth which indicates increased demand amid the festive season as anticipated by the market. This resulted in the ramp-up of operations to cater to the rising demand, which in turn boosted demand of metals used in the production of vehicles and auto components.
