Tata Steel is considering the purchase of state-owned steel company, Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) located in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, according to reports.

 

RINL, often called Vizag Steel, is the corporate body of the Visakhapatnam steel mill under India’s Ministry of Steel. The company owns and operates a 7.3mn mt yearly capacity plant and is also India’s first shore-based integrated steel facility.

 

The Tata Steel long products (TSLP) division of Jamshedpur has shown recent interest in Odisha-based 1.1mn mt yearly capacity steel maker Neelachal Ispat Nigam (NINL) as well. 

 

TSLP produces high alloy steel, for the automotive and wire rope industries holding 1mn mt in yearly capacity.
