Czech Republic’s Tatra Trucks will start operations in Brazil from September this year, with an estimated annual production of 1000 units and an initial investment of R$100mn ($20.01mn).

 

The plant will be the first outside of European territory and is expected to produce around 100 units by the end of 2021 noted media reports on Monday.

 

Tatra Trucks’ factory will be located in Parana, Brazil, and will be operated by TatraBras. The facility is forecasted to create 300 direct jobs for the production of 6×6 and 8×8 off-road trucks. These vehicles are to be used in the mining, forestry, and sugar industries, as well as the military and defense sectors.

 

The company plans to import parts and components initially, however, the plant will manufacture these parts in-house or source them from Brazilian companies, later on.
