Davis Index: Market Intelligence for the Global Metals and Recycled Materials Markets

Tenaris’ Koppel steel plant resumes production after a yearlong $15mn upgrade of the facility. The melt shop will ramp up the supply of steel bars to its seamless pipe mills in the US and Canada.

Upgrades included expansion to produce a wider range of steel bars, installation of molds for caster and new cranes to feed scrap metal to the furnaces. Testing of the facility will commence in the coming months and the plant is expected to be fully functional by the end of the summer.

The resumption in production activity will improve the supply chain for the domestic market which is under severe constraints pushing input costs to unprecedented levels, stated Tenaris’ US President Luca Zanotti in a company release.
