South Korean LG Chem plans to supply nickel, cobalt, manganese, aluminum (NCMA) material to Tesla in July for electric vehicle (EV) batteries for the latter’s Y Model SUV line-up.
The batteries will have 90pc nickel content for cylindrical versions that one of LG Chem’s group companies LG Solutions supplies to Tesla. Neither company has disclosed production capacity or schedule.
General Motors commissioned a second EV battery unit in the US in collaboration with LG Chem in March.
