With the prospect of completing the construction of its plants in Berlin and Austin to start manufacturing its new models, Tesla reported a 106pc increase in its production in H1 2021 compared to the same period in 2020.

 

In its quarterly report, the electric car manufacturer reported that its production increased to 380,759 units in the first half of this year, versus 184,944 in the first six months of last year, in the pandemic.

 

Despite a shortage of chips and semiconductors and problems in its supply chain, Tesla increased its production by 151pc to 206,421 vehicles in Q2 2021 as against 82,272 from April-June 2020.

 

Production of the Model 3/Y topped Tesla’s list, increasing 136pc to 384,419 units in the first half of this year compared to 163,228 during the same year-ago period. In Q2, this model increased its production by 169pc to 204,081 from 82,272 units in the second quarter of 2020.

 

The Model S/X resumed production in this second quarter with a 63pc drop in production, to 2,340 units from 6,226 vehicles in 2020.

 

Total H1 2021 deliveries were 115pc higher than the first half of last year, to 386,181 vehicles from 179,387. Meanwhile, Q2 2021 deliveries grew 121pc to 201,304 units from 90,891 in the same quarter of the previous year.
