The Sindicato Unión Plantas (Suplant) voted to join the strike, started by two other union organizations of the National Copper Corporation’s División Andina.
The Suplant union rejected Codelco’s offer after collective bargaining, which led to its strike on Tuesday, to join the Sindicato Industrial Integración Laboral (SIIL) and the Sindicato Unificado de Trabajadores de Empresa (SUT), that had already staged a walkout last week according to Codelco’s statement on Aug 18.
Codelco added that its most recent offer constitutes the company’s maximum effort within the framework of its transformation process.
This accounts for 1,300 workers on strike in Division Andina, a mining development located in the Valparaíso region owned by Codelco, which last year produced 184,437mt of copper, noted media reports on Wednesday.
