Russia’s TMK is investing RUB500mn ($6.9mn) in upgrading the pipe heat treatment equipment at the Pervouralsk Pipe Plant (PNTZ). The upgrade will support the plant in optimizing resources and expanding the size range of higher value-added products for automotive, aviation, industrial, and space industries.
The RUB60mn stage 1 of the upgrade is completed and allows the furnace temperature to decrease by 200 degrees. The new digital process control system performs frequent diagnostics on equipment and can adjust the temperature on the heat treatment equipment depending on the products being produced.
In the first phase, the site will achieve annual savings of RUB47mn and additional revenue potential due to product expansion, TMK noted in a statement.PNTZ will reduce gas consumption by 1.5-2 times, which will reduce expenses and carbon emissions.
The project’s benefits at 12-15pc completion in stage 1 gives the management confidence of strong savings and increased revenue figures upon completion said Vyacheslav Popkov, TMK’s first deputy chief executive officer.
