Steel service provider TMS International has acquired the business and assets of Cleveland-based Stein, as well as Stein Steel Mill Services.
Stein’s business is similar to the services provided by TMS and includes services to steel mills across the US such as slag removal, scrap handling and management, recycling and repairs, and maintenance. About 500 Stein employees will join TMS and the former’s brand will be operated under the same identity by TMS for now. Raymond Kalouche, president and chief executive officer at TMS, said that the acquisition will strengthen the company’s footprint in the US.
Pittsburgh-based TMS International provides steelmakers with solutions such as scrap purchasing and optimization as well as recycling and metal recovery from by-products such as slag.
