Toyota Motor Corp has announced a production halt in June at two of their plants in Japan amid a shortage of parts.  

 

The company has 14 plants and 29 production lines in Japan. Of these, three production lines at two plants will be temporarily stopped. 

 

At Toyota Motor East Japan, Iwate Plant production line 1 will stop work from June 7-22. Production line 2 at the same plant will stay shut from June 9-15. The Miyagi Ohira Plant will be shut from June 9-11. 
 

A local spokesperson quoted by the media stated that the halt could affect the production of 20,000 vehicles. However, the company has not shed any light on this matter. 

 

Several carmakers, including Hyundai, Kia have recently stopped production in a staggered manner owing to the shortage of parts, largely, semiconductors.
