Singaporean commodity trading company Trafigura plans to resume operations at its copper mine in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), stated media reports. The mine had previously faced operational challenges amid unstable copper prices resulting in temporary closure, the company head of mining Emmanuel Henry informed DRC Prime Minister during a meeting on Thursday.
The company’s Mawson West mine, to the north of Lake Mweru in Haut-Katanga province, has an annual production capacity of 26,000mt of copper.
