Trevali has extended the suspension of operations at Santander mine in Peru as 82 workers test positive for COVID-19.
The company temporarily shut operations on June 29 when 19 workers were found infected by COVID-19 while carrying out routine serological testing. As a response, the company suspended operations and all its 298 workers were immediately tested and quarantined. Tests identified 82 workers as COVID-19 positive, which is around 33pc of the mine’s total workforce.
