Trevali has begun the safe resumption of operations at its Santander mine and mill in Lima, Peru after it was shut down for about three weeks due to COVID-19.

Operations were paused until further notice, on June 26 after several employees tested positive for the virus so that additional testing and preventative measures could take place.

In an update on July 3, the company noted that around 28pc of employees had tested positive upon full testing of staff because of which, operations would remain suspended.

All workers that tested positive have completed the necessary quarantine period the company said in a statement Wednesday. The company could take around two weeks before returning to firm production stages at Santander.

Headquartered in Vancouver, Canada Trevali produces most of its revenue from base metals mining at its three operational assets that include the wholly-owned 2,000mt per day zinc and lead processing mill at the Santander Mine.
