Davis Index: Market Intelligence for the Global Metals and Recycled Materials Markets

Passenger car and light commercial vehicle sales have almost doubled in Turkey to around 94,733 units, up by 93pc from the prior year, according to data published by Automotive Distributors Association (ODD). 

 

Passenger car sales rose by 90.9pc to 76,341 units and commercial vehicle sales increased by 102pc to 18,392 units in October compared to the previous year. The auto association has revised its forecast upwards for end-year sales to 725,000-750,000 vehicles from September’s estimation of 700,000-750,000 units. 

 

In ten-months period, sales of light commercial and passenger cars increased by 78pc to 588,354 units, according to ODD data. Passenger car sales in the January-October period were up 73pc 73.1pc to 465,031 units, and light commercial vehicle sales rose by 99pc to 123,323 units.  

 

Automotive sales in Turkey took a hit amid COVID-19 ravaging economies worldwide. Lockdown restrictions to control the spread of the virus caused sales to plummet post-June, but Turkey’s demand has been rising monthly after lockdown restrictions started easing beginning June.
