Davis Index: Market Intelligence for the Global Metals and Recycled Materials Markets

The weekly Davis Index for DKP scrap (equivalent to auto bundles) in Turkey rose by TRY78/mt ($9/mt) to TRY2,299/mt ($273/mt) delivered on Monday as most mills chose to hike their purchase prices due to a notable devaluation of the Turkish lira against the US dollar.

 

Colakoglu Metalurji lifted its purchase price for DKP grade by TRY70/mt to TRY2,380/mt delivered on Oct 27, while Diler Demir Celik raised it by TRY100/mt to TRY2,305/mt delivered.

 

On the same day, Kroman announced its new DKP grade purchase price of TRY2,190/mt delivered, up by TRY120/mt from earlier. Meanwhile, Mescier increased its purchase price for this grade by TRY90/mt to TRY2,165/mt delivered on Oct 28.

 

Kardemir revised its purchase price on Oct 31 and is now buying DKP grade at TRY2,455/mt delivered, compared with TRY2,345/mt delivered earlier.

 

Erdemir and Isdemir, however, are still paying TRY2,360/mt delivered and TRY2,120/mt delivered, respectively, for DKP grade, unchanged from Oct 3-6.

 

Purchase prices for shipbreaking scrap in Izmir have also held at $275-280/mt delivered.
