The weekly Davis Index for Turkish DKP scrap (equivalent to bonus grade) increased by TRY55/mt ($9/mt) to TRY1,865/mt delivered on Monday, while the Index for extra grade scrap (equivalent to HMS 1&2 (85:15)) rose by TRY40/mt ($6/mt) to TRY1,755/mt delivered.
Some Turkish mills increased purchase prices as they suspended bookings of imported scrap and tried to buy as much domestic scrap as possible in the last week of February.
Colakoglu Metalurji raised purchase prices by TRY45/mt to TRY1,850/mt delivered for DKP grade and to TRY1,735/mt delivered for extra grade on Feb 25. On the same day, Diler Demir also increased its purchase prices by a similar amount to TRY1,835/mt delivered for DKP grade and TRY1,735/mt delivered for extra grade.
Kardemir raised its purchase prices by TRY80/mt to TRY1,975/mt delivered for DKP grade and by Try110/mt to TRY1,815/mt delivered for extra grade.
Erdemir and Isdemir didn’t revise their prices and continue to purchase DKP grade at TRY1,890/mt delivered and TRY1,730/mt delivered, respectively, and extra grade at TRY1,885/mt delivered and TRY1,725/mt delivered, respectively.
Purchase prices for shipbreaking scrap in Izmir decreased by $2/mt to $268/mt delivered.
