Davis Index: Market Intelligence for the Global Metals and Recycled Materials Markets

The daily Davis Index for Turkish imports of US-origin HMS 1&2 (80:20) remained unchanged at $446.39/mt cfr on Monday, despite a sale from the Baltic region.

 

An Iskenderun-based mill purchased 23,500mt of HMS 1&2 (80:20) at $445/mt cfr, 6,000mt of shredded scrap at $460/mt cfr, 2,500mt of bonus material at $460/mt cfr and 3,000mt of railway scrap at $465/mt cfr from a Latvian exporter.

 

Some bookings were done in the Azov-Black Sea basin, where Turkish mills bought HMS 1&2 (90:10) from Ukraine at around $440/mt cfr.

Imported ferrous scrap purchases for October shipment are expected to continue in Turkey this week.

 

Spot domestic rebar prices reflected a regional variance in Turkey, rising by TRY45/mt in Izmir, declining by TRY20/mt in Istanbul and Karabuk, and remaining unchanged in Iskenderun. As a result, the general price range settled at TRY6,415-6,550/mt ex-works, including 18pc VAT, on Monday compared with TRY6,370-6,570/mt ex-works, including 18pc VAT, on Friday.

 

Icdas dropped its local rebar prices by TRY140/mt to TRY6,660/mt ex-works Biga and TRY6,740/mt ex-works Istanbul (prices include 18pc VAT).
