The daily Davis Index for Turkish imports of US-origin HMS 1&2 (80:20) increased by $3.67/mt to $257.81/mt cfr on Thursday after a new sale from the US was reported.
Turkish mills continue ferrous scrap purchases, with an Iskendurun based mill buying 21,000mt of HMS 1&2 (80:20) at $260/mt cfr, 3,000mt of shredded scrap at $265/mt cfr and 6,000mt of P&S at $270/mt cfr from a large US exporter on Feb 5. The cargo is due to be shipped in February.
One more booking was fixed in the Azov-Black Sea basin after a Romanian supplier provided discounts and traded 5,000mt of HMS 1&2 (80:20) at $242/mt cfr Turkey.
Steel product sales remain difficult and while most scrap sellers are still waiting for better deals, some Turkish mills have rekindled their interest in scrap purchases and are looking for cargoes at around $250/mt cfr for HMS 1&2 (80:20) from the US or Baltic region.
