Turkish steelmakers exported 1.28mn mt of hot-rolled coils (HRC) in January-July compared with 1.69mn mt in the same period of 2020.

 

According to statistical source SteelData, flat product supply from Turkey to Italy and Spain dropped by 42pc and 31pc to 333,000mt and 174,000mt, respectively, during the period under review.

 

In the first seven months of the year, Turkey shipped 167,000mt of HRC to the USA, 53,000mt to Tunisia, and 45,000mt to South Africa, against minimal export to these nations in January-July 2020.

 

HRC supply from Turkey to Iraq amounted to 48,000mt during the period under review compared to 65,000mt in the same period last year.

 

Flat product export from Turkey to Greece, Portugal, Belgium, and Bulgaria fell by 7pc, 3pc, 27pc, and 61pc to 62,000mt, 59,000mt, 49,000mt, and 32,000mt, respectively, SteelData noted.

 

In July, total HRC exports from Turkey amounted to 204,000mt compared to 252,000mt in the same month last year.

 

Turkey’s flat steel consumption increased by 24pc to 11.2mn mt in January-July on an annual basis.
