The Turkish Employers’ Association of Metal Industries (MESS) announced a lockout on January 22, after members of the Turkish Metalworkers’ Union (Turk Metal) decided to strike amid failure to secure a new collective bargaining agreement.
No date has yet been set for the lockout though MESS and Turk Metal remain in negotiations, the result of which will be shared with the public shortly.
About 200 companies with 130,000 works, including steel producers and carmakers, have been impacted by this strike.
