Turkey decreased its metallics imports by 25pc to 425,000mt in the first four months of 2021 compared to the same period last year.
Pig iron supply to Turkey fell by 24pc to 319,000mt during the period under review, according to statistical source SteelData. Ukraine shipped 112,000mt of the material, which is almost the same as a year ago, while Russia reduced supply by 62pc to 75,000mt and Germany raised it by 14pc to 47,000mt. Turkey also imported 36,000mt of pig iron from India and 33,000mt from Brazil.
Supply of hot briquetted iron (HBI) to Turkey dropped by 27pc to 106,000mt in January-April 2021 compared to the same period last year, according to SteelData. Libya and Russia, which shipped 68,000mt and 38,000mt, respectively, were the only suppliers.
