Turkish steelmaker Nursan Demir Celik resumed operations under a new brand identity, Aba Demir Celik, on September 4, according to multiple market sources.
The mill, which is located in the Iskenderun region, was idled for around five years. Market participants told Davis Index that Aba Demir Celik will continue to focus on rebar production its traditional product before the mill stopped operations in 2015. The facility has the capacity to manufacture around 1.2-1.5mn mt of crude steel per year.
Aba Demir Celik is expected to purchase ferrous scrap in both, the domestic as well as import markets.
