Turkey reduced its metallics imports by 38pc to 273,000mt in the first three months of 2021 compared to the same period last year.
Pig iron supply to Turkey dropped by 40pc to 200,500mt during the period under review, according to statistical source SteelData. Ukraine, Russia, and Brazil decreased their shipments of the material to the country by 13pc, 66pc, and 29pc to 78,000mt, 55,000mt, and 33,000mt, respectively.
Supply of hot briquetted iron (HBI) to Turkey dropped by 30pc to 72,000mt in Q1 2021 compared to the same quarter last year, according to SteelData. Libya and Russia, which shipped 56,000mt and 16,500mt, respectively, were the key suppliers.
