Turkey exported 1.67mn mt of rebar in the first three months of 2021 compared with 1.55mn mt in the same period last year, according to statistical source SteelData.
Long product shipments from Turkey to Israel and Singapore increased by 21pc and 46pc to 248,000mt and 190,000mt, respectively, during the period under review and decreased by 54pc to 172,000mt to Yemen.
Peru is becoming a strategic outlet, where rebar shipments reached 197,000mt in Q1 2021 versus 18,000mt in Q1 2020.
Turkey exported 153,000mt of rebar to Hong Kong in the first quarter and 79,000mt to Brazil, while there were no supplies to those countries in Q1 2020, according to SteelData.
Rebar export from Turkey to the USA declined by 54pc to 66,000mt during the period under review.
Jamaica and Senegal were other important outlets, where Turkey raised long product shipments by 88pc and 42pc to 44,500mt and 38,000mt, respectively.
In March 2021, Turkey’s rebar exports totaled 619,000mt compared to 519,000mt in the same month last year.
