Ferrous scrap consumption increased by 14pc to 8.17mn mt in Turkey in Q1 2021 compared to the same months in 2020 due to higher crude steel production, according to statistical source SteelData.
Turkish mills used more scrap as crude steel output rose by 9.5pc to around 9.83mn mt during the period under review. Producers increased scrap imports by 20pc to 6.32mn mt, while its supply from the domestic market declined by 1pc to 1.85mn mt.
