The United Arab Emirates will join a handful of countries that have been exempted by the US from tariffs on aluminum imports in February.
In a proclamation issued as one of the last announcements by the outgoing Trump administration on Jan 20, the UAE was exempted from a 10pc tariff citing that it had reached a quota agreement with the US to restrict aluminum imports.
UAE is the fifth country after Mexico, Canada, Australia, and Argentina to be exempted from the aluminum tariff regime that has been in place since 2018.
