Aggreko, a supplier of mobile and modular power, temperature control and energy services, announces that it has signed a five-year contract to deliver a 24MW gas-battery hybrid power solution to United Steel Industries’ Fujairah steel mill, the largest of its type in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The new Aggreko hybrid solution will deliver a 49pc saving on the cost of fuel to the customer, while also reducing the company’s carbon emissions.
United steel mill supplies 1.1mn t of steel components to the construction and manufacturing sector.
This will help the mill remove the need for a spinning reserve and out of balance sudden jumps in the mill’s load, as this was previously managed by diesel generators consuming excessive amounts of fuel and increasing overall carbon emissions.
Aggreko has opened a new depot in Greater Noida, India. The firm is already delivering 53 MW of early power support to a key refinery in central India, a 32 MW generator for an Aluminium smelter in eastern India and a 13 MW shutdown power solution for an energy major in western India.
