Ukraine’s base metal import and export declined in January-September 2020 on an annual basis, according to data from the State Customs Service of Ukraine.
In the first nine months of the year, the country’s exported copper accounted for $55.1mn, down 12.7pc from January-September 2019. During the same period, aluminum, lead, and nickel exports amounted to $77mn, $18mn, and $1.9mn, respectively. Aluminum trended flat while lead and nickel dropped by 6.1pc and 49.3pc, respectively, over the value of exports in January-September 2019.
Ukraine also reduced its base metal imports in this nine-month period. Aluminum and nickel imported into the country declined by 11.8pc to $283mn and 4.3pc to $55mn, respectively, compared with the same period last year. Lead and zinc imports also declined in the same comparative period by 42.7pc to $6.1mn and by 33.6pc to $37.2mn, respectively.
The Customs Service did not disclose any actual volumes of the metal and metal products traded.
