Pig iron exports from Ukraine tallied at 954,000mt in January-April down by 0.6pc compared to the same period in 2020, according to Ukrainian Customs.
The US was the main outlet for Ukrainian pig iron with 62pc of the material shipped there. It was followed by Turkey (14pc) and Italy (9pc). China, which was an important destination for Ukraine has not bought any pig iron material so far this year.
Ukraine exported 241,000mt of pig iron in April, 21down up as compared to April 2020.
Pig iron production in Ukraine rose by 9pc to 7.07mn mt during the period under review, according to Ukrmetalurgprom data, and the country occupied 10th position among the world’s largest pig iron producers, according to The World Steel Association.
The top-five pig iron producers in the world through the first four months of this year were China (306.64mn mt), India (37.98mn mt), Japan (23.27mn mt), Russia (17.88mn mt), and South Korea (15.68mn mt).
