UK’s commercial vehicle (CV) manufacturing in the first six months of the year grew by 30.3pc to 34,318 vehicles compared to 26,342 units in the prior year period, according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT). In June, CV production increased by 39.6pc to 5,808 units compared to 4,159 units in June 2020. 


Domestic CV production in H1 2021 grew by 50.2pc to 17,824 vehicles over 11,864 units in the same period in 2020 and in June, it saw a 58.7pc growth to 3,426 units compared to 2,159 a year ago. CV exports rose by 13.9pc in January-June to 16,494 units compared to 14,478 units in the same period of 2020. In June, exports increased by 19.1pc to 2,382 units from 2,000 a year ago. 


British engine production rose by 15.3pc in January-June to 939,488 units compared to 814,957 units in the same period of 2020. In June, engine manufacturing inched up by 0.6pc to 157,623 units compared to 156,681 units on an annual basis. Domestic usage increased by 30.4pc to 418,566 units in H1 2021, compared to 321,050 units in the same period of 2020. Engine exports grew by 5.5pc in the first six months to 520,922 units compared to 493,907 units in H1 2020.
