Ferrous scrap exports from the United Kingdom rose 31pc in January to May 2021 to 3.51mn mt when compared to 2.68mn mt of the same period last year according to the country’s Customs data.
UK’s ferrous scrap exports jumped four times this May to 753,966mt from 148,539mt in the same month of the prior year and increased by 12pc from 671,045mt in April 2021.
Turkey was the largest importer of ferrous scrap from the country, with 500 times more cargo at 231,975mt in May as against 44mt in May 2020. The second-largest importer of ferrous scrap from the UK was Egypt, with a 73075pc increase to 130,254mt from 178mt within the same timeframe.
