Davis Index: Market Intelligence for the Global Metals and Recycled Materials Markets

UK’s heavy goods vehicle (HGV) registration declined by 32.2pc to 32,918 units in 2020 compared to 48,535 units in 2019, according to Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT). 

 

In Q4 2020, HGV registration was down by 10.9pc to 11,155 vehicles compared to 12,514 vehicles during the same quarter in 2019. This decline is majorly attributed to the impact of pandemic on the automobile industry, SMMT stated. 

 

England’s HGV registration in 2020 dropped by 33pc to 28,723 units from 42,884 units in 2019. Scotland witnessed a 21.6pc fall in HGV registration to 2,440 vehicles last year from 3,112 vehicles in 2019. Northern Ireland’s HGV registration was down by 36.8pc to 796 units in 2020 compared to 1,259 units in the prior year. Wales witnessed a 24.7pc drop to 944 vehicles in 2020 from 1,254 vehicles in 2019.
