Metalloinvest’s Ural Steel has purchased an ore transfer car with a 70mt lifting capacity, to raise its blast furnace (BF) production.

The car, according to a statement by Metalloinvest, will enhance the BF’s operational capability by transferring charge material from the ore yard to the furnaces. The car can load up to 3,500mt of sintering and charge products into the BF on a daily basis.

Metallo invested RUB 73mn ($977,870) in the car as part of Ural Steel’s integrated development program, the Russian steelmaker said in its statement. Once BF #2 is upgraded, the load on the transfer car will increase three-fold, the company stated.
