Davis Index: Market Intelligence for the Global Metals and Recycled Materials Markets

The spreads for US mill-grade aluminum extruder scrap continued to narrow during the week to help keep aluminum scrap flows moving. 

 

The Davis Index spread for Litho sheet scrap tightened to 14.1¢/lb under LME on Tuesday, with outright prices for Litho sheet scrap increasing a penny to 63.1¢/lb.

 

Spreads for mill-grade MLC narrowed by 2¢ compared with last week to 28¢/lb, while mill-grade painted siding spreads tightened to 30¢/lb. Spot deals were priced at 48¢/lb for mill-grade MLC and 47¢/lb for painted siding, up between 1-2¢/lb from last week. The Davis Index spread for 5052 clip scrap narrowed to 12.1¢/lb with outright pricing for the category increasing to 68¢/lb.

 

The Index for UBC spread was slightly tighter at 25.9¢/lb, compared to 26.5¢/lb last week, with outright pricing up to 53¢/lb on Tuesday across most of the US.

 

The three-month LME aluminum contract increased slightly, compared to last week closing up by $22/mt at $1734/mt. However, it is still lower by $83/mt compared to three weeks ago.
