Prices of secondary aluminum smelter scrap delivered US decreased on Wednesday as demand weakened due to OEM production shutdowns.
The weekly Davis Index for 2000/7000 solids dropped to 37.3¢/lb delivered US on Wednesday, from 37.5¢/lb delivered on April 1. The index for old sheet decreased by 0.08¢/lb to 35.1¢/lb delivered US and fell by 1¢/lb to 35.2¢/lb delivered US for old cast.
The Davis Index for secondary MLC was down by 1.4¢/lb to 37.3¢/lb delivered US and decreased for tweak, twitch, and zorba with tweak decreasing by 3.3¢/lb to 31.7¢/lb delivered, twitch dropping by 1.5¢/lb to 34.5¢/lb delivered and zorba declining by 3.2¢/lb to 30.3¢/lb delivered.
The official three-month LME aluminum contract closed at $1,460/mt on Wednesday, down by $38/mt from $1,498/mt on April 1.
