US East Coast dock collection prices for ferrous scrap increased by $11-18/gt for all grades as domestic scrap prices and export activity have increased dockside prices, while Houston dock collection prices were flat. Export demand increased on Tuesday amid fresh US-origin scrap bookings to Turkey.
The Davis Index learned that East Coast docks increased collection price levels late last week from $195-205/gt to $210-220/gt for HMS 1&2 (80:20). However, some sellers were offered $225/gt for remote material delivered East Coast dock.
In Boston, the weekly Davis Index for export yard HMS 1&2 (80:20) increased by $12/gt from $202/gt to $214/gt delivered dock, and P&S 5ft rose by $11/gt from $212/gt to $223/gt delivered Boston dock. The index for shredder feed increased by $14/gt from $144/gt to $158/gt delivered.
The weekly Davis Index for export yard buying prices in New York for HMS 1&2 (80:20) increased by $16/gt from $201/gt to $217/gt delivered on Tuesday, and increased by $16/gt from $211/gt to $227/gt delivered New York dock for P&S 5ft. The index for shredder feed rose by $18/gt from $147/gt to $165/gt delivered.
In Philadelphia, the index for export yard collection prices of HMS 1&2 (80:20) increased by $16/gt from $199/gt to $215/gt delivered. The Davis Index for P&S 5ft rose by $14/gt from $209/gt to $223/gt delivered Philadelphia dock, and prices rose by $15/gt from $149/gt to $164/gt delivered for shredder feed.
The weekly Davis Indexes in Houston remained unchanged for HMS 1&2 (80:20) at $211/gt delivered, and for P&S at $228/gt delivered, while the index for shredder feed was flat at $155/gt delivered. Houston dockside prices are lagging slightly behind the East Coast, but they’re expected to rise by next week.
