Davis Index: Market Intelligence for the Global Metals and Recycled Materials Markets

The US has levied antidumping duties (AD) on circular welded carbon-quality steel pipes from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) after exporters from the country were found to have sold the material at less than fair value.

The US Department of Commerce, while issuing the final results of its investigation into the matter on Monday, said that the review covered 20 UAE-based steel pipe producers and exporters who had sold the material to the US between December 1, 2017, and November 30, 2018.

Of the 20 companies, Commerce selected Conares Metal Supply and Universal Tube and Plastic Industries along with its subsidiaries, THL Tube and Pipe Industries and KHK Scaffolding and Framework (Universal), as the two mandatory respondents. As a result of this investigation, Commerce levied a weighted-average dumping margin of 2.49pc on Conares and 3.79pc on Universal. All the other exporters and producers who were reviewed were charged AD of 3.14pc.
