The US Department of Commerce has preliminarily determined that countervailable subsidies are being provided to Mexican exporters of standard steel wire mesh.
Commerce initiated this investigation in July for the period of review, January 1, 2019, through December 31, 2019. As per initial findings, it has assigned countervailing duties (CVD) of 1.02pc to Aceromex and 102.09pc to Deacero. An all-others clause for producers from Mexico at 1.02pc CVD has also been included.
The order is slated for publication on Dec 3, after which the agency will direct US Customs and Border Protection to suspend liquidation of subject merchandise till cash deposits of the equivalent duties being assessed are collected from the producers.
