The US Department of Commerce has levied anti-dumping duties on imports of carbon and alloy steel wire rods into the US from South Korea. The government agency has determined these products were sold at an unfair value.

In a preliminary review of stainless-steel wire rods from South Korea for the period Oct 1, 2017- Sep 30, 2018, US Commerce found that POSCO was the sole producer and exporter of the subject products and levied 1.01pc dumping margins.

On Jan 29, 2020, the time limit for the results of the review was extended to 364 days from previously announced 245 days. In April it was further extended by 50 days till July 20, 2020.
