Superalloy prices rose across most grades on Thursday, amid increasing LME nickel prices through the week.
The weekly Davis Index for Hastelloy C rose by 12¢/lb to $5.25/lb for single truckload delivered processor yard and was up for Hastelloy X by 3¢/lb to $3.80/lb delivered.
The index for Inconel 600 was up by 3¢/lb to $4.90/lb delivered and climbed for Inconel 601 by 2¢/lb to $4.10/lb delivered processor yard.
Inconel 617 rose by 3¢/lb at $3.82/lb delivered processor yard and increased for Inconel 625 Vac by 4¢/lb to $4.33/lb delivered. The index for Inconel 718 Vac also was up by 3¢/lb to $3.55/lb delivered processor yard.
The official LME Nickel cash contract closed Thursday at $17,943/mt, up by $510/mt from $17,433/mt on Apr 29.
Inconel prices have increased over the past week due to the LME Nickel market. That said, like the stainless steel scrap market, the demand for Inconels has slowed down and processors don’t expect it to rise soon and attribute this week’s increase solely to the higher LME Nickel prices.
