Davis Index: Market Intelligence for the Global Metals and Recycled Materials Markets

The prices for US secondary aluminum smelter scrap delivered US decreased on Wednesday as secondary smelters braced for the lack of demand from the automotive industry.

 

The Davis Index for 2000/7000 solids dropped by 1.3¢ to 39.5¢/lb, while old sheet decreased by 1.9¢ to 40.3¢/lb on Wednesday. The index for old cast also decreased by 2.4¢ to 39¢/lb while secondary MLC decreased by 2¢ to 42.6¢/lb.

 

The indexes decreased for tweak, twitch, and zorba during the week. The Davis Index for tweak moved down by 1.5¢ to 39.9¢/lb delivered, while zorba dropped by 2.4¢ to 41.2¢/lb delivered. The index for twitch declined by around 3¢/lb to 41.6¢/lb on Wednesday and the index for painted siding moved lower by 3.9¢ to 40.3¢/lb.

 

The three-month LME aluminum contract closed at $1,638/mt down by $48/mt from $1,686/mt on March 11.
