The US Department of Commerce issued its final countervailing duties (CVD) on 99-225cc engines and their parts being exported from China in a notification issued on Thursday.

Commerce indicated in its notices that it had finalized the duties on Chinese exporters who were receiving subsidies for the product and its parts that were being shipped to the US between January 1, 2019, and December 31, 2019.

Commerce had made a preliminary determination of duties in August 2020 after investigating the imported products on a petition made by Briggs & Stratton. It has included Chongqing Kohler Engines and Chongqing Zongshen General Power Machine apart from the Government of China as mandatory respondents to this investigation.

The agency said it had issued the final CVD after receiving and discussing the issue at length with all the concerned parties following its preliminary determination. It has levied the maximum CVD on Chongqing Zongshen General Power Machine at 18.13pc followed by other entities at 10.46pc. Chongqing Kohler Engines has to pay the least in CVD at 2.84pc per the notification.
