US steel mills shipped 7.8mn nt in March 2020, a 6.3pc decrease from the 8.3mn nt shipped in March 2019 according to American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) data. Compared to February 2020, March shipments decreased by 0.4pc.
Shipments of hot rolled coil increased by 4pc in March compared to February 2020, while cold rolled sheet shipments declined 1pc, and Hot dipped galvanized sheet and strip shipments decreased by 5pc during the same period, according to AISI data.
Shipments in the first three months of the year decreased by 0.2pc to 24.1mn nt from 24.2mn nt in the same three-month period in 2019.
