Superalloy prices rose across all grades on Thursday in tandem with rising LME Nickel prices.
The weekly Davis Index for Hastelloy C rose by 6¢/lb to $6.37/lb for single truckload delivered processor yard and was up by 8¢/lb for Hastelloy X to $4.59/lb delivered.
Inconel 600 grew by 7¢/lb to $5.92/lb and increased for Inconel 601 by 8¢/lb to $4.69/lb delivered. The index for Inconel 617 Vac was up by 8¢/lb to $4.08/lb delivered processor yard and Inconel 625 Vac also increased by 13¢/lb to $5.78/lb delivered. The index for Inconel 718 Vac increased by 8¢/lb to $4.40/lb delivered processor yard.
The official LME Nickel cash contract closed Thursday at $19,540/mt, up by $100/mt from $19,440/mt on Aug 5.
Superalloy prices followed the price trends set by stainless steel scrap following the increase in LME Nickel prices on Thursday. Moreover, the expected recovery in the aerospace sector has kept superalloy prices more stable compared to stainless steel processor buying prices, which have witnessed some volatility due to a sluggish outlook for September.
