Davis Index: Market Intelligence for the Global Metals and Recycled Materials Markets

Superalloy prices increased across most grades on Thursday on better demand from domestic mills.

 

The weekly Davis Index for Hastelloy C rose to $4.474/lb from $4.465/lb on Thursday and ticked up for Hastelloy X to $2.662/lb from $2.660/lb for single truckload delivered processor yard. 

 

The index for Inconel 600 moved up by 1.3c/lb to $3.385/lb delivered and rose for Inconel 601 to $2.779/lb from $2.771/lb delivered. The Davis Index for Inconel 617 also rose to $2.881/lb delivered from $2.879/lb delivered. However, the index for Inconel 625 Vac was flat at $3.154/lb delivered while Inconel 718 Vac dropped to $3.034/lb from $3.038/lb delivered on Thursday. 

 

The official LME nickel cash contract closed on Thursday at $13,415/mt, down by $259/mt from Wednesday.

 

LME nickel prices have been rising over the past week despite Thursday’s decline while demand from domestic mills has also risen. These trends have resulted in an increase of superalloy and stainless-steel prices this week.
