The weekly Davis Index remained flat for zinc alloys, with Zamak #3 unchanged at $1.25/lb and Zamak #2 at $1.28/lb, despite LME Zinc’s strong showing Tuesday.

The weekly Davis Index for zinc alloys #12, #27, and #8 remained at $1.22-$1.24/lb, unchanged from last week, while the indices for Zamak #5 and #7 were flat at $.126/lb and $1.27/lb, respectively.

The three-month official LME zinc contract closed Tuesday at $2,432.50/mt, up by $78/mt from $2,354.50/mt a week ago, as there was strong demand in the Asian market ahead of the Chinese New Year.

US market participants expressed caution as they wait to see what the market will look like after a brief flurry of activity in the aftermath of the US-China trade agreement signed last week.
