Canadian specialty steel maker, Valbruna ASW has awarded a contract to Tenova for supply of new Electric Arc Furnace (EAF).
The new EAF will replace the existing unit at its Welland, Ontario plant which was capable of producing 100,000mt of steel per year. The modernization help increase its hourly melt shop production, efficiency and reliability to produce high quality steel. The new EAF will be fully automated.
The Welland plant was acquired when Valbruna took over ASW Steel in September 2019. The Valbruna Group is an Italian stainless steel group with two plants in Italy, one in the US and the Ontario facility. It has a combined capacity of 200,000mt of stainless steel products per year according to the company’s website.
