Australia-based Venturex Resources has informed that the Western Australian Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) has submitted its report of Sulphur Springs Copper-Zinc Project to the Minister of Environment for the final decision. The report was submitted on March 30.
Sulphur Springs Copper-Zinc Project, located in the Pilbara region of Western Australia is wholly owned by Venturex Resources. Authorities had completed the assessment of the company’s revised Environmental Review Document (ERD) on Feb 20 following which, they submitted a final report recommending the approval of the Sulphur Springs Project.
The EPA approval is a key milestone for Venturex. The Sulphur Springs mine comprises of 17.4mn mt grading 1.3pc copper, 4.2pc zinc and 17g/t silver. The company aims to develop the mine through open pit and underground mining and process 1.25mn mt of resources annually.
Venturex is facing unprecedented disruptions due to the COVID-19 outbreak and work at most sites are shut due to internal lockdown in Australia.
